The Pure Padel Manchester’s state-of-the-art indoor padel facilities were chosen to host the ProAM Padel Tour which saw professional padel players and sports personalities alike take to the padel courts in mixed pro-amateur pairs in a thrilling round-robin tournament.
The tour launched in April 2023 and Pure Padel hosted the fourth and final leg of the tour which took place as an all-day exclusive event. Pure Padel Manchester saw the top professional padel players Tia Norton (GB No. 2), Louie Harris (GB No. 3), Hanna Maddock and Ellie Tait, plus international players Helena Wyckaert (Belgian No. 1) and Fredrik Ask (Norway No. 1) taking part.
Stepping onto court alongside the professionals were famous faces from the sporting world and beyond, Team GB gold medallist swimmers Adam Peaty and Matt Richards, Lioness icon and Queen of the Jungle Jill Scott, Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas, actor Owen Warner, former England footballers Joleon Lescott and Kyle Walker and Manchester United icons Phil Jones and Katie Zelem.

Ryan Thomas and Alfonso Patacho won the cup and Kyle Walker and Helena Wyckaert won the plate. In addition, Katie Zelem won standout player of the day- we’ve got our eyes on you Katie! She reports “I loved learning from the pros! It’s so much fun, especially playing a new sport. It’s very social but still competitive.”

Even better, each celebrity winner received a few gifts curtesy of the sponsor Certina including a DS-7 Chronograph and a limited edition NOX racket bag.
Not only was competition at the heart of the tour but also a Next-Gen Exhibition helped to inspire the next generation of padel players. It featured young talent such as Under18 No. 3 Nia McKiernon (Cheshire), Under16 No. 5 Harry Stalker (Yorkshire), Under18 No. 5 Hayden Kalinins (Derbyshire) and Under16 No. 2 Benjamin Philips (Nottinghamshire). Teens from Manchester High School for Girls and Withington School for Girls were also spotted on court for introductory taster coaching sessions.

The tour additionally saw initiatives such as Foundation 92 (founded by Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes and Phil Neville), which aims to provide support to communities through the medium of sport, hold a session for those who have faced drug and alcohol addiction.

CUPRA were granted the title of the tour’s official automotive partner and have been involved in padel since 2019. With partnerships with the International Padel Federation, CUPRA FIP Tour and Premier Padel, they have been dedicated in their support of the development of the sport from its beginnings to where it is now.
ProAM Padel Tour’s official watch partner, Certina, took the event as an opportunity to exhibit their latest sports watch range including two padel-inspired models: the DS-7 Chrono Padel Edition and the DS-7 Auto Chrono which some of the celebrity winners received.
Thanks to some of the tour’s sponsors, each celebrity was gifted a pair of YOOVY sunglasses, a variety of padel accessories from NOX, Certina branded balls, a £100 Padel Shack voucher and a range of hydration and nutrition products.
NEO WTR ensured players stayed hydrated throughout their matches, Europe’s trailblazing water brand which use 100% Prevented Ocean Plastic bottles. Finally, there was a variety of food and bubbles for spectators to enjoy throughout the tournament.
